Somewhere Between Nothing and Nowhere Exhibition Talk

17 February 2021 - 17 February 2021

Exhibition Talk with Luke Shaw, Phoebe Hinchliff, and Nathan Pōhio
Wednesday 17 February 5:30pm

Join us for an exhibition talk with Luke Shaw and Phoebe Hinchliff who will discuss their current exhibition Somewhere Between Nothing and Nowhere with artist and curator Nathan Pōhio. In conversation with Pōhio, Shaw and Hinchliff will speak to their current collaborative exhibition which explores liminal spaces and ‘the journey’ alongside their shared research interest in Western films.

Based in Canterbury, Phoebe Hinchliff completed a BFA(Hons) at the Ilam School of Fine Arts in 2019. Her research-based practice and fieldwork is currently concerned with investigating the connections between bodies, the places they occupy and what occurs in the space between them. She is also interested in the conversation between language and land. Last year she showed in Domino Domino at The Physics Room and in 2019 she exhibited in Sympathetic Resonance at The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi O Whakatū, Whakatū.

Luke Shaw is an artist and musician based in Ōtautahi. He holds an MFA from the Ilam School of Fine Arts. Recent exhibitions include Artspace New Artists Show 2020, Artspace Aotearoa, Tāmaki Makaurau, 2020; Domino Domino, The Physics Room, Ōtautahi, 2020; and Sympathetic Resonance, The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi O Whakatū, Whakatū, 2019.

Nathan Pohio (Waitaha, Kati Mamoe, Kai Tahu, Hapū: Ngai Tūāhuriri, Kāti Huirapa, Ngati Wheke, Ngāti Irakehu, Ngai Ruahikihiki) is an artist and Assistant Curator at Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū.
