Exploring ideas such as: the artist as a commodity, the action of the artist as Flaneur, desire and lack of social documentary. Project spaces doing themed Christmas shows have an inevitability about them, if not a cashing into the ramped up money go round with some fundraising activity, the buy-buy-buy atmosphere acts as catalyst in less direct ways but is always lurking like a submerged log in a summer dive pool. This year the Blue Oyster is using the hyperbole of the season itself as a starting point, selecting works that deal with the commodity fetishism and unfulfilled desire in various forms around a range of urban experiences.
