Once More, with Feeling is an improvised, choreographic experiment in 4-D. The performers navigate a terrain of their own making, exploring choreography, time and space, whilst contending with the influence of an omnipresent, Clairvoyant Mr Fox.
First developed in Ōtautahi, Christchurch in 2018, Once More, With Feeling was proposed by dancer and choreographer David Huggins and developed in collaboration with dance-wunderkinds Josie Archer and Kosta Bogoievski.
David Huggins began dancing while completing his psychology degree in Aotearoa. Since graduating from a Bachelor of Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne), he has worked consistently with Russell Dumas’ Dance Exchange (Melbourne) performing nationally and internationally. Huggins has also worked for other artists including Douglas Wright (Aotearoa), Xavier Le Roy (France) and Rhiannon Newton (Australia). He is currently developing new work through international residencies.
Josie Archer is a freelance performer, dancer and choreographer currently living in Ōtautahi. Archer has been an artist in Experimental Dance Week Aotearoa, Performance Art Week Aotearoa, Festival of Transitional Architecture, NZ Fringe Festival, Auckland Fringe Festival, Tempo Dance Festival and Asia Tree New Wave Festival. Her solo work Josie’s Solo was awarded Best Dance of Auckland Fringe in 2017. Josie has been an artist in residence at SpaceVac in Seoul, South Korea, Healing Hills Art collective in Morni Hills, India and The Physics Room in Ōtautahi. As a performer Josie has worked with artists Olive Bieringa, Michael Parmenter, Zahra Killeen Chance, Jennifer Lacey and Wally Cardona, and Christine Bonansea.
Kosta Bogoievski is an artist working on dance, performance art, and writing prose in Aotearoa. He graduated from the Unitec Institute of Technology (Tāmaki Makaurau) with a Bachelor in Performing and Screen Arts (majoring in Contemporary Dance). He’s performed nationally and internationally with a number of companies and independent artists namely, The BodyCartography Project, Jennifer Lacey, and Wally Cardona. He is currently develop his writing, alternative literature, poetry and prose, choreography in public space and unorthodox environments, and dancing with an application of principles from Klein Technique, Material for the Spine, and Body-Mind Centering.
