Better living everyone. Elisabeth Pointon

Under the guise of a double agent, working as Bookings Coordinator/Official Artist in Residence at a luxury car dealership, Elisabeth Pointon’s practice investigates how shared spaces are becoming sites for communal isolation. Pointon employs public intervention, performance, sculpture, text and video in order to consider the implications and effect of the artistic spirit in the workplace environment via big, romantic gestures. These works were initially made in collaboration and in discussion with her colleagues in an attempt to overturn the dominant corporate language and the power attributed to it.

Better living everyone. is the final in a series of blimp works which include Don’t miss out. at The Dowse Art Museum (2018) and Special offer. at Te Tuhi (2019), each of which use corporate language to reimagine our cultural spaces. Drawing from her experiences in the workplace, language, accessibility and representation has been a continued interest in Pointon’s practice.
