Hector Hazard, Looking Awry, 2007

Looking Awry Hector Hazard

26 June 2007 - 7 July 2007

"Hector Hazard the flaneur, the hitchhiker is known to many, but he is a man of many more parts. Like Flann O'Brian's Third Policeman his molecules have been modified by his obsessions. The bicycle first, and later when they all started to work together, the hand held video-camera. The conjugative human is charming and relatively civilised no matter what gregariousness is afoot, but somewhere close by there will be some kind of camera. It will be used. He is in fact a graduate of St Martin's College of Art, London, from the competitive and prestigious film-course. His passion and critical knowledge of film/video has modified his molecules and lifestyle, to allow him a freedom and facility with the hardware, which can distill profound moments from the most humble situations, wherever in his travels he might be. He enjoys humankind. The technology is no mystery, his means are simple, disciplined and particular. The simple truths he allows us to see are the real mysteries, and they linger." - Adrian Hall
