Made at the Sweatshop Jay Hutchinson
6 March 2007 - 24 March 2007
The project constructs a physical model of third world labour exploitation in sweatshops. Made at the Sweatshop runs four days a week, Tuesday-Friday beginning when the gallery opens at 11am and finishing when the gallery closes at 5pm. The project consists of the artists manufacturing t-shirts, from start to finish, for ten cents an hour. When each t-shirt is completed they are signed and numbered by the artist, and are priced for sale based on the cost of materials, with the additional cost of labour factored in.
