Future Proof – If I Were a Blackbird Kathleen Peacock

In 1999 Blue Oyster collaborated with High Street Project on a series of exhibitions titled Future Proof. Eight artists were shown in a touring exhibition between the two galleries, lasting until November. In this iteration of the series Kathleen Peacock presented her exhibition If I Were a Blackbird comprising of a series of small wooden boxes dotted throughout the gallery and lit by hanging bulbs. Within these boxes speakers were mounted, playing haunting songs from the artists childhood, as performed by her mother.
