Kristin Perrett, Warcraft, 2007

Warcraft Kristin Perrett

27 March 2007 - 14 April 2007

For her latest exhibition, Kirstin Perrett has dipped into the realm of the geek - glimpsing snapshots from the online role playing phenomena World of Warcraft and then making a scene from memory. She's no fan of the game - like Rousseau's jungle paintings, Perrett conjures up a place never really visited. The result is an imagined-imagined world and is as much about the imagination iof the artist as the (virtual) reality of the place. Kirstin explains the motivation behind War Craft:

"I am drawn to the subject partly as a reaction to my previous work "Playing to the posters on my bedroom wall. Playing showed social scenes of urban rock n roll cool - my new work explores the online world of the gaming geek - where social interaction is removed and seen through a digital filter."
