Sam Thomas and Fu-On Chung, Swirling Dream-Wreck, 2017

Swirling Dream-Wreck Fu-On Chung and Sam Thomas

2 August 2017 - 26 August 2017

Artist talk: Wednesday 2 August, 12pm

Swirling Dream-Wreck is the second iteration of an ongoing collaboration between Auckland-based painters, Fu-On Chung and Sam Thomas. The first collaborative exhibition, Nets (GLOVEBOX, October 2016), saw the artists focus on tennis—their contrasting practices, abstraction and figuration, each describing different angles on the game.

In Swirling Dream-Wreck Chung and Thomas look at the concept of fantasy with equally diverse approaches, using their shared medium of painting to expand and evolve elements of a shared unknown. Accompanying the exhibition will be a text by Francis McWhannell, available in gallery as well as online from Wednesday 2 August.
